Why Surah al-Kahf Protects Against the Dajjal

Why Surah al-Kahf Protects Against the Dajjal

Surah Al-Kahf was described by the Prophet ﷺ as a protection from the Dajjal. But why this Surah specifically?

One of the wisdoms is that the Dajjal’s trials will manifest in four domains: faith, wealth, knowledge, and power. Surah Al-Kahf masterfully addresses each of these through four fascinating stories:

1. The People of the Cave: Young believers refuse to compromise their faith despite persecution. This addresses the trial of faith.

2. The Owner of the Two Gardens: A wealthy man becomes intoxicated by his riches. This addresses the trial of wealth.

3. Musa and Khidr: Musa embarks on a journey to learn from Khidr. This addresses the trial of knowledge.

4. Dhul-Qarnayn: A mighty ruler remains humble and righteous. This addresses the trial of power.

Interestingly, in the middle of these four stories, Allah mentions Iblis. It is as though he sits at the center of the tribulations, seeking to exploit them against humanity.

These four stories are rich with lessons on navigating the fitan of this world. When the Dajjal emerges, these fitan will reach their peak, and Surah Al-Kahf’s lessons will serve as a shield against them.
